Unlocking TikTok's Full Potential (Ft. The Barbie Movie)
When it comes to marketing your brand, utilizing social media, is one of the best things you can do. We previously talked about how TikTok and it's resources are very important when you're pushing out content for your brand because:
TikTok has a massive user base
Easier to engage in content.
While Gen Z is currently the most active on the platform, all demographics can be reached. However, if your target audience is anyone under the age of 35, then TikTok is that place you need to be.

Almost a year after its release, the Barbie movie is still leaving an impact on its audience; and it's all because of they way they utilized social media, especially TikTok for marketing. Despite the movie already gaining recognition because of the famous toy dolls, Barbie's marketing team took advantage of the various TikTok trends on the platform to help promote the movie.
Since Barbie released during the SAG-AFTRA protests, they didn't have access to actors and influencers doing the necessary press to the same extent. So instead, they took the opportunity to fully utilize TikTok and market through viral trends- made by themselves and other TikTok users.
Barbie capitalized on the "Ordinary Barbie" trend and the "Barbieheimer" crossover trend made by fans of both movies. Using these viral trends allowed for other users to also participate and create their own content--creating massive interaction and engagement for Barbie.
It's time for you to be doing the same. Don't let these big corporations do what you can be doing as well. While inventing a whole new trend may be out of your reach, take advantage of the existing trends on TikTok. Utilize TikTok's Creative Center to find viral songs, hashtags, content and creators to help boost your content and brand.
Taking full advantage of TikTok's resources will allow you to reach your audience in an authentic way that they want to be reached.
