Building a website for your brand
We talk a lot about different social platforms and connecting to your audience on our New-Gen Marketing podcast. But there is one place where all of your accounts should be pointing to and that is your website. A website is where you will likely find all of your conversions and sales, so it needs to be a good one. Today we are discussing how you can take the steps to create a good website for your brand.
The first thing you need to do when creating a website is define the purpose. You need to know who your target audience is and why they are coming to your site. Are you trying to sell products, showcase work, or connect with people? You need to know why you have a website and the purpose it will serve for your brand.
Once you know the purpose of your site, you need to think about how you can convey that to users. When people end up on your site, you need to show them what they should be doing there. Direct them to a product page or to a contact form. On our site you can see the button at the bottom of the page encouraging you to connect and talk with us. A clear call-to-action is essential for an effective website.
You need to make sure your branding is consistent across your website and socials. Use a guide to keep colors and graphics consistent. People need to associate your site with your brand, not make it feel like something completely different. This goes hand-and-hand with your domain name. You need to have a memorable domain name, something that people can hear once and remember. Make it easy to spell, because you do not want to lose potential visitors to your site.
Now that you know some important tips for creating a site, you need to actually make the site. There are many ways that you can go about doing so. Here at Lifestyled we encourage people to try Squarespace. They have a variety of templates that allow you to build a site fast. Some other web-building platforms include Shopify, WordPress, and Wix. The purpose of your site will affect which of these web-building services you will choose.
Once you have built a site, you need to optimize it for search engines. This involves finding keywords that match your brand and its mission. We are going to discuss this in-depth in a future post, so keep an eye out for that. You need to make sure that when people are using Google to search for your type of brand that your site ranks highly on the page because that is a great way to generate traffic.
Your website is where you want to be sending people from your platforms. You need to make sure your website showcases your brand, what you do, and how people can reach you or buy a product or service from you.
